Story of the Handsworth Gang Show

The Handsworth Gang Show was formed in 1953, and first performed in December of that year at the then famed Aston Hippodrome in Birmingham.

We have continued to stage a performance at least every two years since then, and in 1953 we produced our Golden Jubilee Show at the Old Repertory Theatre in Birmingham City Centre.

In 1967 we were awarded the coveted Red Neckerchief, and have continued to maintain a high and approved standard since then.

Handsworth District scouting later became North West District, and recently has been changed to the Tame Valley District of Birmingham encompassing Cubs, Scouts and Guides from a large part of the north of Birmingham.

Rehearsals for our 2008 show from February 11th to 16th inclusive began in September and a cast of 90 are in full swing to entertain you at the New Crescent Theatre in Birmingham City Centre, offering easy access from Birmingham Rail stations and excellent parking facilities.

The theatre is in the showpiece Brindley Place centre offering many restaurants and bars and walking distance from the stunning ICC and Symphony Hall complex.

Tickets are competitively priced for a city Centre venue, and we invite you to experience one of Birmingham’s leading and oldest established Gang Shows.

Please contact our Box Office or the Crescent Theatre to order your tickets, or download our booking form now in case you forget. We are performing during the schools half term so why not bring along the family.
